This week Monica Lee was Caught Being Good!
From the Principal: On Thursday, May 14th we'll have our Los Cerros Open House beginning at 7pm. This is a fun evening where you get to see the classrooms and meet the teachers that your student spends time with each day. Also that evening you will notice a bus parked along the front of the school. Measure J, Traffic Congestion reduction project, will have a bus here for parents to see. We are also organizing a parent question and answer evening with the Traffix (Measure J) representative, Aram Boyd. Please look for that information in the next few days. Enjoy your weekend and again thank you for your support, Phyllis Roach YOSEMITE NEWS Attention all students going to Yosemite: REMINDERS Sunday, May 10th, meet at Los Cerros promptly at 10:30 am. Busses leave at 11am. Be sure you are getting lots of exercise and preparing to hike five miles every day. If you have new shoes, break them in at home, wearing them enough to prevent blisters. If you can't find your packing list, you can find it on the web at this link. http://yni.org/yi/miscfiles/FSEquip11.1.07.pdf There is lots of other information on the YNI.org website. Take a look. Happy hiking!! Mrs. Shetterly and Mrs. Charley CONGRATULATIONS TO LC STUDENT Heather Baine!
in July, Heather is representing our state Region 7 ( CA, NV, Hawaii) at Lamplight, Illinois for the National Dressage Equitation Medal Finals. Basically , dressage is about training a horse to do ballet and equitation means how the rider sits in a balanced position on the horse. Her big sis, Courtney Baine, graduated from Los Cerros last year competed at the dressage version of the Junior Olympics and represented California on the first ever Junior team to bring home a bronze medal at 14. Her older teammates in the Young Rider division 16-21 brought the gold medal back to CA. On her team were 3 Contra Costa residents and on the older team was another local resident. Los Cerros has produced the largest number of successful riders in the state. Horses always need to be cleaned, fed and exercised and there are so many opportunities for tweens, just ask Heather , 6th grader at school. INDEPENDENT PE The San Ramon Valley Unified School District will be phasing out Independent Study PE at middle school level, beginning with 6th graders in September 2009. If you have a 7th or 8th grader who is interested in doing Independent Study PE for the 2009-2010 school year the application is due at the SRVUSD office no later than August 4, 2009. 8TH GRADE PARENTS

Parents, as we approach the last 30 (approximately) days of the school year, it is particularly important that you keep your student on their regular schedule. Make sure they continue writing down assignments in their planner, getting enough sleep and scheduling time for homework, studying and down time. |

Did you know you can purchase a book for the library to honor your student or a teacher here at Los Cerros? Just click on the links on the library web page, choose the book you would like to donate. Purchase it from Amazon or send a check made out to Los Cerros Middle School (please indicate your selection if you have one), then once the book is here we will process it for our students to use and place a book plate in the book honoring your donation. http://library.lcms.srvusd.k12.ca.us If you want to help, ask questions, or comment please contact Ms. Davis at ddavis@srvusd.net. |
