This week Jackson Slone was Caught Being Good!
Please come by the office to pick up your prize. Who will be caught next?
From the Principal:
I want to again thank the Danville voters for supporting Measure C. Now that the state elections are finished the school district has made some preliminary decisions for the 2009 -2010 school year. The two items that affect middle school directly are: 1) no increase in class student to teacher ratios, and 2) a two year reinstatement of our Librarian. I am very happy and relieved to have both of these and as budgetary decisions continue there will be more news on staffing.
Currently my focus is on supporting our Academic Booster campaign. As you know each year Academic Boosters commit to raising enough funds for twelve classes; the equivalent of two full time teachers. As the counselor and I begin to build the master class schedule for 2009 -2010 it is clear that we need those twelve classes in order to maintain the smallest possible class size with the largest variety of class options. If you have not done so yet please mail your Booster donation in as soon as possible. I want to thank Diana James and Caroline White for their leadership and the Booster membership for their hard work.
Our recent Open House was fun for all of us at Los Cerros and I enjoyed the many conversations I had with parents. You may have seen a familiar yellow school bus parked in front of the school. Next year the Traffix program in conjunction with the school district and City of Danville will offer busing in areas of high traffic congestion. If you want to learn more about this program Los Cerros and Green Valley Elementary are offering a joint Parent Evening on Thursday, May 28, at 7pm in the Green Valley MPR. I hope you will attend this evening and continue to check the district website,www.srvusd.net for more information.
Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with your family. It’s been a quick year and it’s hard to believe we only have 13 more days of school!
