LEADERSHIP NEWS
Next year's leadership class- There will be a short meeting after school on Monday June 8.  This is a mandatory meeting where you will receive important info on next year's class.  Please attend.  See Mr. Briemle if you have any questions.

Field Day!
Field Day is today- Friday June 5.  It will begin at noon and will go until the end of the day.  The district is selling a bbq lunch ($3.50) for any students interested. There will be carnival style events including a dunk tank where you can dunk your favorite teacher!  Please remember that this is a regular school day and attendance will be taken at 2:30 in your 7th period class making sure that you were at school for the full day.  We are hoping that this will be a fun day for everyone so please remind yourselves to be on your best behavior so that this event can continue in the future.   Thank  You...The Leadership Class

CONGRATS TO MATH OLYMPIAD TEAM FROM LC

The team of Brian Yu, Tiffany Kwan, Annette Taylor, Jonathan Orgill, Lauren Glenn and coach Janet Orgill received a Third Place Trophy at the First Annual Apex Math Olympiad Tournament held Saturday May 30th.  They have trained all year and we are very proud!

8th GRADE PROMOTION PARTY – Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Just TWO days until you party in Wonderland...
   ...so now it’s really, really important that you make sure you do a few things ASAP!

f you haven’t turned in your PERMISSION SLIP to the office, do it NOW!  You cannot attend without it. Parents, if you don’t think you’ve ever seen a permission slip, check your child’s backpack;  it was included with the invitation to the party, the one that looked like a playing card. Consider turning the slip in even if you think you might not be coming, just in case you change your  mind (or your plans) on the day.

INDEPENDENT PE

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District will be phasing out Independent Study PE at middle school level, beginning with 6th graders in September 2009. If you have a 7th or 8th grader who is interested in doing Independent Study PE for the 2009-2010 school year the application is due at the SRVUSD office no later than August 4, 2009.

Great America Chaperones Needed - If you would like to chaperone the 8th grade trip to Great America on Thursday, June 11th, please contact Mike Cannon at
mcannon@srvusd.net or 552-3464.  The trip will leave Los Cerros around 8 am and return to Los Cerros around 4 pm.  There is no cost for chaperones, we are looking forward to a great trip.

SRVHS REGISTRATION
SRVHS Web Store - We strongly encourage you to use the Web Store. This will give you the opportunity to shorten your wait time, avoid writing numerous checks and the option of using credit card for many required items. The Web Store will be accessible early August by using the link on the school website at www.srvhs.net

MONTE VISTA REGISTRATION
Fall Packet Pick-Up for Monte Vista August 14th at 4-8 pm August 17th at 12-2 pm
Orientation for Monte Vista   Friday, August 21st (Time is TBD)
Registration for Monte Vista  August 19th and August 20th from 12-7pm

Make-up date is Tuesday, August 25th from 6-8:30am

  LOS CERROS REGISTRATION UPDATE:

Fall Packet Available Online- no lines and no waiting!  We are very excited to announce that Los Cerros is taking our first steps toward an online registration process for the 2009-10 school year.  This means

  • There will be no packet pickup this year--all the flyers and forms will be available online for you to fill out and print from the comfort of your own home.
  • There will be no Rainbow Packet!  
  • You will receive an email in August to announce the materials are online. 
  • After logging on to the website you will be able to fill in the forms online then print the pages that need to be returned to school.
  • Other information that was typically in the packet will also be online to read & save.
  • When you come to one of the two registration dates you will turn in your printed and completed pages as you have done in the past.

Please note that there are two dates for registration. If you are unable to register on either of these dates, you will need to come early on the first day of school to register.

If you are unable to view/print the required forms online you may pick them up at registration.

Panther Camp: Thursday, August 20th at 9am in the MPR.

Registration: Wednesday, 8/19 and Thursday, 8/20 from 4-7pm in the MPR.

Counselor’s Corner

The counseling office will close Friday, 6/19/09 and re open Monday 8/10/09.

Academic
All before and after school help sessions (except Algebra 1 help) will end the week of 6/1/09.  There will be NO peer tutoring, math help, homework support, or Spanish help the week of 6/8/09.
8th grade - Just a reminder that if your student receives a final F, Venture summer school is required. If the final grade is a D, Venture summer school is not offered.

Career
All 8th grade students should now have received the “Getting Ready for High School” booklet. Please let Ms. Schubb know if you have not received one. All 7th graders received the curriculum and will get their books next year.

Personal/social
Parents of students with ADD/ADHD – 7 week series for parents of children ages 5-12. “Loving Solutions” is being taught at John Muir Health starting 7/7/09. For more information, please call 941-7900  or check johnmuirhealth.com/whcclasses.

LIBRARY NEWS
Looking for a good book over the summer?  A suggested summer reading list is posted on the library web site! http://library.lcms.srvusd.k12.ca.us

Library hours for the remainder of the school year are as follows.

Friday June 5 – 7:45 till 2:30
Monday June 8 – 7:45 till 3:30
Tuesday June 9 – 7:45 till 3:30
Wednesday June 10 – 9:00 till 2:30
Thursday June 11 – Library Closed

All books and other library materials are due yesterday June 4th.
 
Clear our any computer files or schoolwork you wish to keep by June 8th.

  • Put them in their schoolloop locker, then transfer them to your home computer.
  • Put them on a USB drive.
  • Bring a (CDR) disc to school to save their files on.
  • Personal e-mail does not always work for students to use here at school, therefore the district does recommend using personal e-mail to move files!

    Mrs. Davis - ddavis@srvusd.net will have a limited supply of (CDR) discs available to students for 50 cents each. Mrs. Lawton in the lab or Mrs. Davis can help students move their files.
